What is home swapping?
Home swapping is a way to explore new destinations by staying in another member's home instead of booking traditional accommodation. With SHH, you can exchange homes directly, arrange a swap for different dates, or use SHH Keys for stays without a simultaneous exchange. It's a flexible, community-based way to travel while making the most of your home.
Do I have to swap on the same dates?
No. Choose a Reciprocal Swap for the same dates, a Flexible Swap for different dates, an SHH Key Stay for a one-way visit, or a Hosted Stay with the host present in their home.
What is a Hosted Stay?
Stay with another member while they remain in their home. Check the listing for private and shared spaces, guest capacity, house rules and any agreed contributions.
How much does membership cost?
Standard SHH Membership costs £119 per year, giving members access to our home exchange community and SHH Keys system. Founding Members receive their first 12 months complimentary, followed by a protected renewal rate of £69 per year while their membership remains continuously active. SHH Concierge Membership is available for £299 per year, offering additional personalised assistance with arranging exchanges.
What is an SHH Key?
An SHH Key is a platform credit that gives members greater flexibility when arranging stays. Members earn Keys by hosting eligible stays and can use them to stay in other members' homes without arranging a direct reciprocal exchange. The number of Keys required depends on the home's assigned Key Rate and the length of the stay. Keys have no cash value, cannot be purchased or sold, and can only be transferred through eligible SHH exchanges.
Will my home address be shown publicly?
No. Your exact address is never shown on public pages. Search results and public previews only show an approximate location, such as the city or region.
Can I join SHH without immediately paying for membership?
Yes. You can register, create your profile, add your home and explore the SHH community before activating membership. An active membership is required before you can contact other members about exchanges, send requests or confirm a stay. Eligible Founding Members receive their first 12 months of membership complimentary.
