Exchange types

Reciprocal exchanges

The classic home swap. You and another member exchange homes on the same dates, so both of you travel at once with no accommodation cost.

What it is

Two homes, the same dates

In a reciprocal exchange, two members agree to stay in each other’s homes over the same period. It is the simplest form of home swapping and, because both members are exchanging equally, no SHH Key is normally required.

Step by step

How a reciprocal swap works

  1. 01

    Find a match

Search for a home you love and check the member is open to a reciprocal swap on your dates.

  2. 02

    Agree the details

Message the host to confirm dates, guest numbers and any house rules for both homes.

  3. 03

    Confirm the exchange

Once you both agree, the exchange is confirmed and appears in your upcoming stays.

  4. 04

    Swap and enjoy

Travel on the agreed dates. You stay in their home while they stay in yours.

  5. 05

    Review each other

After the stay, leave a review to help the community stay welcoming and trustworthy.
